Psalm 1:1-3
The Way of the Righteous
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. (NKJV)
Paying attention to one's environment takes constant vigilance. It's easy to compromise and take on the world's standard of righteousness, a standard which varies with the passage of time and the ever increasing influence of political correctness. It sneaks upon us, making us wonder how we ever got there; that is, if we even notice at all. God's standards, on the other hand, remain constant in spite of passing trends in cultures and contain benefits which rival the treasures of this world!
The world asks about what's being carried in our wallets and gives a card which promises priceless moments. In contrast, God asks about what we're carrying in our hearts and gives us the promise of a priceless eternity.
Can one put a price on answered prayers? What about the promise of safety for not only us, but our seed as well? Are you counted amongst the righteous? And just one more question, can you afford not to be?
